Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Wynton Bernard was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 35th round of the 2012 amateur draft.

2014 was Bernard's breakout campaign. It was his first year in the Detroit Tigers system after the Padres released him. With the West Michigan Whitecaps, he hit .323/.394/.442 with 45 stolen bases and 91 runs scored in 131 games to earn Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star and Post-Season All-Star selections, the league Most Valuable Player award, and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star nod. The next year, he again was selected to that trio of All-Star teams, hitting .301 with 43 steals in 135 games for the Erie SeaWolves. In 2016 he reached Triple A for the first time, but struggled, slashing .235/.286/.302 in 46 games to earn his release. The San Francisco Giants signed him on November 18, 2016.

It took him until the 2022 season to make his major league debut, by which time he was 31 and a member of the Colorado Rockies. He started in centerfield against the Arizona Diamondbacks, batting eighth, and went 1 for 3 with a run scored in a 5-3 win.
