World University Baseball Championship
(Redirected from World Collegiate Baseball Championship)
The World University Baseball Championship is an international baseball championship for national under-23 teams. It was established in 2002 and was played biannually until it was canceled for 2012 due to lack of teams. It was then reinstated in 2018. It is run by the WBSC and is sponsored by Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, International University Sports Federation). he FISU had previously sponsored baseball at two Universiades in the early 1990s. The event has been competitive in its first several editions. It has become an outlet for players too old for the Junior World Championships but not yet active on a professional level. Many of the performers have appeared in Major League Baseball, Nippon Pro Baseball or the Cuban National Series.
