Biographical Information[edit]

Woo-jun Shim has played in the KBO.

Shim represented South Korea in the 2013 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .154/.267/.154 and fielding .923 as their starting shortstop. He was drafted by the KT Wiz in the first round of the 2014 KBO draft, and he stayed in the minors for his first season. Shim hit .169/.181/.239 in 2015, and he improved to .242/.264/.326 in 2016. He also represented South Korea in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup, batting .375/.444/.438 with 9 runs and 7 RBI in 9 games, going 4-for-6 in steals and fielding .871 at SS. He tied for 4th in runs, tied for 3rd in steals and tied for 5th in errors (4). Shim improved to .287/.314/.395 with 18 steals in 2017, then he hit .259/.304/.371 with 11 steals in 2018. He hit the first inside-the-park home run in KT's history on August 25, 2019, and his batting line was .279/.328/.340 with 24 steals in that season. He was 7th in steals, tied with Hae-min Park.

The Gwangju native recorded a .235/.291/.300 batting line with 35 steals in 2020, and he led the league in steals. His .291 OBP was the lowest for a steals leader. Shim then hit .268/.323/.371 in 2021, and his batting line was .240/.316/.302 in 2022. He missed the 2023 season and half of the 2024 season due to military service, and he had a .240/.316/.302 batting line in 53 games after returning. He then announced that he would become a free agent, and the Hanwha Eagles signed him with a 4-year, 5-billion-won contract.
