Biographical Information[edit]

Wilce Nieves pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.

Nieves was signed by the Chicago White Sox. He was 2-1 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 games (6 starts) for the 2010 DSL White Sox. He went 5-4 with a 4.82 ERA for the same team in 2011, walking 29 in 46 2/3 IP while throwing nine wild pitches. He had a 5-5, 2.23 record with 3 saves in 22 games in 2012, walking only 8 in 48 1/3 IP. Let go by the Pale Hose, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in eight games for the VSL Rays in 2013 to end his minor league career. He had gone 12-11 with 3 saves and a 3.79 ERA in 87 games (16 starts). In 147 1/3 IP, he allowed 142 hits and 66 walks while striking out 86.

He pitched for Venezuela when they won the Bronze Medal in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, pitching three games (3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 4 K, 2 BB). He tied Luis Sanz and Leovildo Pargas for the team lead in games pitched; only Colombia's Kendy Batista worked more in the tournament. He allowed three runs in 4 2/3 IP for Venezuela in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

In 2021, he came to play in France, for the La Rochelle Boucaniers. He was 6-5 with a 3.41 ERA his first year in France, fanning 96 in 74 innings. He was 5th in French Division I in IP, 5th in K (between Yorfrank López and Esteban Prioul), tied Alex Santana and López for 6th in wins, tied for 3rd in losses, tied Kevin Canelon for 8th in appearances (12) and tied for 5th in starts (10). He returned to the team in 2022.
