After 8 years as an affiliate of the New York Yankees (1972-1979), the West Haven Yankees switched to the Oakland A's in 1980 and became the West Haven Whitecaps. After one year, the name was changed again to West Haven A's. After two years, the team was moved to become the Albany A's in 1983.
