Biographical Information[edit]
Wei-Ta Su played in the CPBL and set several records.
Su was drafted by the CTBC Brothers in the fifth round of the 2015 CPBL Draft, and he stayed in the minor league in his rookie year. He hit .273/.344/.400 with 5 homers in 2016, and his batting line was .266/.350/.459 in 2017. Since the Brothers had plenty of talented first baseman like Chi-Hung Hsu or Cheng-Min Peng, Su was often used as a pinch-hitter. He slumped to .221/.288/.350 in 2018, and he soon bounced back in 2019. Su crushed 6 homers with a .275/.339/.510 batting line in 2019, and he was 1-for-2 in the 2019 Taiwan Series. The Lamigo Monkeys beat the Brothers in 5 games.
The New Taipei native had his career year in 2020, hitting .293/.368/.545 with a career-high 14 homers. He blasted his 4th pinch-hit homer against Chun-Yen Huang on July 24, and he broke Wen-Bin Chen's single season record while tying the career pinch-hitter homer record with six. He then crushed his 7th pinch-hit homer against Ming-Hsiang Chang on August 8. Su was 3-for-7 in the 2020 Taiwan Series with a pinch-hit 3-run home run against Wei-Lun Pan in Game 2, but the Brothers still lost to the Uni-President Lions in 7 games. He slumped to .224/.315/.364 in 2021, and he was 7-for-43 in 2022. Su then fractured his right foot in 2023, so he only played 22 games with the big club.
