Biographical Information[edit]

Wei-Hua Lee pitched in the CPBL for 6 years.

Lee went 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA for Taiwan in the 2007 World Port Tournament, despite walking 8 in 11 innings. He was picked by the Uni-President Lions in the 2007 draft. In the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, the southpaw retired six of seven batters he faced, with 3 strikeouts. He is listed with a save against Spain but this is hard to fathom as Taiwan won 13-3 and Lee only pitched one inning. He helped Taiwan clinch a spot in the 2008 Olympics. In the 2008 season, he pitched in the minors for the Lions, going 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA. He was on Taiwan's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic but he did not make the final cut.

The Uni-President Lions selected Lee in the first round of the 2007 CPBL Draft. He debuted on April 2, 2009 in the CPBL, and he plunked the only batter he faced (Chia-Hsien Hsieh) on his head in his first game, and he was ejected. Lee was the only player ever in CPBL to be ejected in his first career inning. He had a 5.51 ERA in 15 games in his rookie year. Lee had a 6.23 ERA in 6 games in 2010, then he recorded a 4.15 ERA in 15 games in 2011. He allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings in the 2011 Taiwan Series, and he won his first title as the Lions beat the Lamigo Monkeys in 5 games.

Lee pitched a career-high 55 games in 2012 with a 4.01 ERA, and he ranked 4th in appearances (8 behind Huan-Yang Chen). However, he slumped to a 5.40 ERA in 21 games in 2013, and his ERA was 6.23 in 13 games in 2014. Lee led the minors with 7 saves in 2014, so the Lions gave him one last chance. He stayed in the minors for the entire 2015 season, then the Lions released him and ended his career. He coached WuFeng Institute of Technology from 2015 to 2020 after retiring, and he became a coach of National Chiayi University in 2021.

Overall, Lee was 6-3 with a 4.99 ERA, notched 7 holds in 125 appearances, struck out 83 and pitched 148 innings in 6 seasons in the CPBL.

Lee's repertoire includes a slider, curveball, forkball and fastball (peak time 90 mph).
