Biographical Information[edit]

Wei-Chuan Chuang pitched in the CPBL for 5 years.

Chuang was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the first round of the 2004 CPBL Draft, and he was 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA in his rookie year. However, his ERA was 8.41 in 14 games in 2005, so he was demoted in the middle of the season. Chuang had an elite 0.37 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in the minor league, and they were still the CPBL record as of 2023. He broke out in 2006, and he had a 2.95 ERA in 45 appearances with the big club. He ranked 3rd in games pitched, tied with Wei-Ming Chu. Chuang's ERA rose to 6.42 in 45 games in 2007, and he had a 5.59 ERA in 26 games in 2008. He was then involved in a game-fixing scandal, and the league banned him for life.

Overall, Chuang was 7-12 with a 4.77 ERA, struck out 113 and pitched 253 innings in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
