Biographical Information[edit]
The father of Don Mueller and brother of Heinie Mueller, outfielder Walter Mueller played four years in the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He made his big league debut on May 7th, 1922 against the Chicago Cubs. Facing Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander in his first at-bat, he hit a three-run, inside-the-park home run on the first pitch he saw. He hit only one more homer in his big league career.
In addition to his son Don, another son Leroy Mueller and a grandson Mark Mueller played minor league ball.
