Biographical Information[edit]

Walter Miranda has pitched and coached in the minors.

Miranda signed with the Florida Marlins in January 1992; he was the second player the franchise ever signed. Walter was 0-1 with a 9.31 ERA for the 1992 DSL Marlins then 5-5 with a 4.66 ERA in 1993. In '94, he had a 6-2, 1.70 record for the GCL Marlins, his best season. He was fourth in the Gulf Coast League in ERA. In 1995, Walter turned in a 8-7, 4.08 season for the Kane County Cougars. In 128 innings, he gave out 88 walks, the most in the Midwest League. The Colombian right-hander gave up 7 runs in 6 1/3 IP for the 1996 Brevard County Manatees then ended his playing career with the '97 Manatees at 2-3, 5.19 with 26 walks in 34 2/3 IP.

Miranda joined the Boston Red Sox organization as a pitching coach. He was with the GCL Red Sox from 2000-2004, the Lowell Spinners in 2005-2006, the Greenville Drive in 2007, Lowell in 2008, the GCL Red Sox once again in 2009-2012, Lowell yet again in 2013-2014 and Greenville again in 2015-2017. He also coached for the Colombian national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
