Biographical Information[edit]
Second baseman Walter Hartwell played in the minor leagues from 1909 to 1915 and from 1921 to 1922. In his first campaign, brief though it was, he hit .405 with 32 hits in 79 at-bats for the Youngstown Indians. A couple years later, in 1911, he hit .312 in 452 at-bats between three clubs and in 1913, he hit .302 in 480 at-bats for the Bay City Beavers. His final .300 campaign was 1921, when he hit .308 with 152 hits in 493 at-bats for the Jackson/Ionia Mayors.
He managed the Saginaw Trailers in 1912, the London Tecumsehs for part of 1915, replacing Doc Reisling, and the Ionia Mayors in 1921, replacing Dan Jenkins.
