Biographical Information[edit]

Vincent King has played in the First Division and for the Belgian national team.

King hit .211/.250/.211 for the 2005 Brussels Kangaroos, making his First Division debut at age 15. He did not play the next year then improved to .285/.347/.385 in 2007. [1] In the 2007 European Junior Championship, he was 1 for 9 with 3 walks, a hit-by-pitch, two runs and a RBI. [2] With the '08 Kangaroos, he batted .286/.313/.531. [3] He hit .111/.158/.222 in the 2008 European U21 Championship. [4]

For the 2009 Brussels club, he hit .286/.384/.381. [5] In 2011, he produced at a .355/.404/.533 clip with 31 runs and 30 RBI in 35 games for the Namur Angels. He was 9th in average, right ahead of Cuban Serie Nacional veteran Nguyen Boulet. He fielded .885. He was also 9th in slugging, tied for 2nd in hits (54, one behind Steven De Lannoy), tied Sim Ruts and De Lannoy for 6th in RBI, led with 16 doubles, was 2nd with 81 total bases (one off the pace) and tied for 7th with 19 errors. [6]

Vincent hit .378/.410/.486 in '12 with 18 RBI in 17 games. [7] The next year, the 23-year-old was at .360/.477/.517 for the Borgerhout Squirrels, fielding .861. He tied Austin Weymouth for 7th in OBP and just missed the top 10 in average. [8] In 2014, he had a monster season at .466/.538/.753 with 30 RBI and 22 runs in 20 games while barely playing the field. He beat out De Lannoy for the batting title by .056. He tied for the homer lead (4), led in OBP (.038 ahead of Tim Veraghtert) and led in slugging (.146 more than De Lannoy). The Squirrels won their first title in 57 years. [9]

That got him a spot on Belgium's squad for the 2014 European Championship. He struck out his first at-bat, against Carlos Richetti, but avenged himself with a single off Richetti the next time. He finished the event 2 for 13 with 3 walks and a run as Belgium's main DH. [10] He did not play in the First Division from 2015-2019, so his stellar 2014 campaign appears to have been his last.
