Vern Fear was a knuckleballer who pitched in 4 games for the Chicago Cubs in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (BN).
He led the Western League in ERA in 1950 with a 2.83.
One fan put him on the "All Halloween Team" along with Everett Booe, Doug Strange, Ricky Bones, Ray Crone, Nick Goulish, Alvin Dark and others.
