Ventura Escalante Yépez (El Loro)

- Died January 11, 1948 in Rio Verde de Yamasa, Monte Plata D.R.
Biographical Information[edit]
Ventura Escalante was 2-1 with a 0.40 ERA for the Dominican national team that finished third in the 1943 Amateur World Series; only Natilla Jiménez had a lower ERA in the event. [1] He had previously won Silver with the Dominicans in the 1942 Amateur World Series. [2] He died in a 1948 plane crash, which killed several Dominican stars. In 1969, he was inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame. [3]
