From BR Bullpen

Players are not notable if they only played semipro ball in the US. They need another qualification - at least one game in the minor leagues or Negro Leagues, college coaching, etc. In countries where the top league is semipro (ex. Netherlands), then semipro players qualify if they played in that nation's top league. Keep on contributing, just be careful to include only players who are notable by our standards here. Thanks! - Mischa (talk) 17:46, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, but I believe leagues such as the Sacramento Valley League were just as high quality as many minor leagues. Major leaguers such as Joe Oeschger, Frank Demaree, and minor leaguers such as Tub Perry and many others played in this league. So I think players in this league were indeed notable. Thanks-John 1941

These players may be notable and a part of baseball history, we have "notability standards" required for inclusion in the Bullpen. Semi-pro and amateur participation do not meet that threshold. Jeff (talk) 19:33, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Could you at least make an effort to make your contributions encyclopedic (see Jack Kotzelnick). Thanks. Philippe (talk) 21:03, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

I don't believe Rosner or Press of Bushwick meets our notability standards so you should remove the links. - Mischa (talk) 19:00, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

I remember the notability standards, but if the Bushwicks were notable aren't the managers of the Bushwicks notable? I'll defer to your decision, but I think that if this what the notability standards say there needs to be more flexibility in the standards. - (talk) -John1941 (talk) 19:40, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

The managers would probably be notable, given the standard set with teams taking part in the World Baseball Congress World Series, but the players are only notable if they were fully professional at one point. Philippe (talk) 20:15, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

On the Venezuelan League award list, we only have links to the first time a player won an award, not for each time, as there is already a link close by on the same page. - Mischa (talk) 20:31, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

That makes sense, but looks annoying. I'd prefer for there to be a link for all the names. -John1941 (talk) 20:34, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

I can see the arguments both ways. I don't think we're 100% consistent on this one. For a big event like the 2021 European Championship or 2022 Caribbean Series, we link every time a player comes up as they're so many. Not so for a smaller event like the 2021 Japan Series (two teams) or something like 2021 Pirates. - Mischa (talk) 20:39, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

The Johnny Kerr page is sourced for the other information. Can you add the sources for what you added? Thanks! - Mischa (talk) 21:48, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Elmer Knetzer[edit]

The "BR page" is the page that includes a player's major league record. The other page you linked for Elmer Knetzer is his minor league page (every player who also appeared in the minor leagues has one). When linking to it, call it "BR Minors page", and for a major leaguer, it should go in the "Related Sites" section. For a player who has not reached the majors, it goes at the bottom of the initial information block, also under the name "BR Minors page". Philippe (talk) 12:08, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
