Biographical Information[edit]

Tyrell Jenkins was a supplemental first-round choice in the 2010 amateur draft.

Jenkins was a three-sport star in high school, getting a football scholarship to Baylor University. The St. Louis Cardinals chose the pitcher 50th in the 2010 draft, the last pick of the supplemental first round. It was compensation for the loss of Joel Piñeiro to free agency. He was St. Louis's third pick, following Zack Cox and Seth Blair. He tossed three shutout innings for the 2010 Johnson City Cardinals to start his pro career.

After the 2014 season, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves along with P Shelby Miller in return for OF Jason Heyward and P Jordan Walden. He reached the major leagues with the Braves in June of 2016. On December 8th of that year he was traded again, this time to the Texas Rangers along with Brady Feigl in return for Luke Jackson.
