Biographical Information[edit]
Ewell "Turkey" Gross played nine games for the Boston Red Sox in 1925. In his first major league at-bat, he was hit by a pitch thrown by Lefty Grove, and he also hit a triple in the same game. He batted sixth in the lineup.
He is remembered for getting 755 hits in the early 1920s in the Texas League. Source: Texas League website Texas League.
