Biographical Information[edit]

Tung-Yi Yang played in the CPBL for 7 years. He is a cousin of Chien-Fu Yang, thus making him a relative of Chung-Shou Yang, Sen Yang, Tai-Shan Chang, Cheng-Wei Chang and Chih-Yuan Chen.

Yang was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the 2004 CPBL Draft, and he hit .216/.232/.277 as a rookie in 2004 as their main shortstop and batted .217/.263/.278 in 2005. He was 3 for 24 in 2006 as a left wrist injury limited, then hit .218/.291/.286 in 2007. Health problems kept him off the field in 2008-2009 but he remained with the Lions; he was ejected from game seven of the 2009 Taiwan Series when umpire Ramon Armendariz thought Yang had given the middle finger during a confrontation between the Lions and the umpires; Yang said he had lifted two fingers to celebrate his team's scoring twice. He was still banned for 2 games. Yang only hit .243/.314/.292 in 2010, then the Lions released him and his professional career ended.

Overall, Yang hit .233/.299/.272 with 275 hits in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
