Biographical Information[edit]

Tsunesuke Sasaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.

Sasaki was signed by the Nagoya Kinko in 1937, and he led the Japanese Professional Baseball League in sacrifice bunts with 11 in the spring 1937 season. He only hit .200/.351/.200 in the fall season, then had a .220/.309/.275 batting line in the spring vthe 1938 season. Sasaki played all 40 games in the fall in 1938, and led the JPBL with 20 steals. Hidenosuke Shima, Yukio Eguchi and him helped Kinko become the first team that had a different player lead the league in steals for three consecutive seasons. The Shimane native led the league in bunts again in 1940, but he only hit .205/.270/.249 in 1941 and announced his retirement.

Overall, Sasaki had hit .195/.287/.239 with 188 hits and 67 steals in 6 seasons in NPB.
