Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Troy Montgomery was picked by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 8th round of the 2016 amateur draft out of Ohio State University. He began his pro career that summer by splitting his season between the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League, where he tore up opposing pitchers with a .341 average in 26 games, and the Burlington Bees of the Midwest League. Combined, his batting line was .291/.384/.461 in 64 games, with 10 doubles and 7 homers. In 2017, he began the season at Burlington, was promoted to the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League a month later, and ended the year in AA with the Mobile BayBears of the Southern League. In 100 games, he hit .271/.358/.413 with 62 runs, 8 homers and 38 RBIs.

On December 13, 2017, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers alongside P Wilkel Hernandez in return for veteran major league 2B Ian Kinsler.
