Biographical Information

Pitcher Wilkel Hernandez was signed by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as an amateur free agent before the 2016 season. he made his pro debut as a 17-year-old with the DSL Angels that season, going 2-0, 1.20 in 5 games, then in 2017 moved to the United States. In a season split between the AZL Angels and Orem Owlz, he continued to impress, going 4-1, 2.64 in 12 games, including 7 starts. He also struck out 44 batters in 44 1/3 innings.

On December 13, 2017, he was one of two prospects, alongside Troy Montgomery, to be traded to the Detroit Tigers in return for established major league 2B Ian Kinsler.
