Biographical Information[edit]
Tomoichi Tanimura became a Central League umpire in 1959. He worked the 1965 NPB All-Star Game, 1967 NPB All-Star Game, 1970 Nippon Series, 1972 Nippon Series, 1973 NPB All-Star Game, 1973 Nippon Series, 1975 NPB All-Star Game, 1976 NPB All-Star Game, 1976 Nippon Series, 1977 Nippon Series, 1979 NPB All-Star Game, 1981 Nippon Series and 1983 Nippon Series. He worked 3,062 games in his umpire career. He has been on the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame ballot many times before making the cut in 2024 in a class with Hiroki Kuroda and Motonobu Tanishige.
