Biographical Information[edit]

Tommaso Battioni has played in the Serie A1 and for the Italian national team.

He was 0-1 with a save and a 0.87 ERA in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, saving Michele Vassalotti's win over Panama and losing to Mexico's Jose Palafox. [1] He debuted in Serie A1 in 2020, hitting .167/.247/.202 for Collecchio and allowing 3 runs in 1 1/3 IP; he fielded .880 at SS. [2] Moving to Parmaclima, he batted .278/.409/.278 with six runs in five games in the 2021 European Champions Cup, fielding .920 at short. He tied for 9th in runs, trailed only Ricardo Paolini in assists (he had 16) and tied Osman Marval for second with four double plays turned. [3] He hit .342/.433/.427 in the 2021 Serie A1. He was 2-for-9 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, double, two runs and four RBI in four games in the 2021 U23 European Championship, playing center field. [4]

Battioni hit .235/.350/.235 in the 2022 European Champions Cup, fielding .957 at the hot corner. He trailed Eric Brenk for 4th with 17 assists and only Philip Schulz had more times plunked than his two as Parma won the Cup. [5] In the 2022 Serie A1, he fell to .213/.380/.293. He batted .222/.364/.333 in the 2023 European Champions Cup. [6] In the 2023 Serie A1, he batted .278/.361/.389. During that year's U23 European Championship, he was at .375/.444/.438 and tied for 8th with 5 runs. [7] He then was on Italy's team for the 2023 European Championship. He debuted against Hungary in the opener, pinch-hitting for Mattia Mercuri and singling off Benedek Laffer. He stayed in at short and drew a walk his next time up. He was 0-for-3 in their other games, albeit with a run and a RBI, and had 3 assists and one error in the field for the event. [8]
