Tom Steinbach was the third Steinbach picked in the 1983 amateur draft and the second player named Tom Steinbach, following Terry Steinbach's brother Tom. This Tom's brother, Eugene Steinbach, also played professionally.

This Tom was picked in the 27th round of the 1983 draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He debuted in 1984 with the Paintsville Brewers and hit .250/.263/.282 in 47 games and fielding .967 in the outfield. In 1985, Tom batted .192/~.238/.272 for the Beloit Brewers, with 55 strikeouts in 151 AB.
