Tom Miller played in 1918 and 1919 for the Boston Braves, appearing in 9 games as a pinch hitter but not getting any time in the field.
Miller was born in Powhatan Court House, VA, a name given to an unincorporated settlement about 20 miles west of Richmond, VA. He was the first major leaguer out of the University of Richmond, which he attended from 1915 to 1918. He made his major league debut in July 1918.
In 1919, he split his time between the majors and Wooster, where he played outfield. In 1920 he played outfield for Wichita Falls.
He died in 1980 after shooting himself in the head with a .32 caliber pistol.
Tom's brother, Willis Miller, was a prominent lawyer and state supreme court justice in Virginia. [1]
He was the second Tom Miller in the majors. The first was this Tom Miller.
