Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Todd Simmons was drafted in the 15th round of the 1981 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, but opted for college. He was an All American in college in 1984, and was then drafted in the 4th round of the 1984 amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox. After just 7 minor league appearances and a 6.81 ERA in Low-A ball, Simmons was traded by the White Sox on December 6, 1984 with LaMarr Hoyt, and Kevin Kristan to the San Diego Padres for Ozzie Guillen, Tim Lollar, Bill Long, and Luis Salazar.

Simmons led the Pacific Coast League with 75 games pitched in 1987, to go along with his 3.05 ERA. Simmons pitched in AAA in 1988-1989, but never made the majors.
