Biographical Information[edit]

Tim Kester pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Kester was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 18th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft, and he went 4-6 with a 2.06 ERA for the Auburn Astros in his first year. He was 5-12 with a 4.90 ERA for the Osceola Astros in 1994, then he went 12-5 with a 2.97 ERA for the Quad Cities River Bandits in 1995. Kester had a 3.73 ERA in 48 appearances for the Jackson Generals in 1996, and he also played one game for the AAA Tucson Toros (allowing 8 runs in 1 2/3 innings). He would stayed in Jackson for the next three seasons.

In 1997, Kester pitched 47 games with 2 saves, but his ERA was 5.23. He then notched 6 saves with a 4.19 ERA in 55 games in 1998, and his ERA was 3.72 with a 8-5 record in 43 appearances in 1999. The Kaoping Fala then signed him, and Kester went 12-5 with a 2.95 ERA in 2000. He was also selected into the 2000 TML All-Star Game. He then pitched for the Rimini club of the Serie A1 in 2001.

Kester signed with the Boston Red Sox after going 7-7 with a 2.57 ERA for the Pennsylvania Road Warriors in 2002, and he was 10-10 with a 3.78 ERA for the Portland Sea Dogs in 2003. He was 12-11 with a 4.20 ERA for the Pawtucket Red Sox in 2004, then he slumped to 11-9 with a 4.95 ERA in 2005. The Uni-President Lions then signed him, but he had a 6.11 ERA in 3 games in 2006 then he left Taiwan. Kester went to the Baltimore Orioles, and he was 7-5 with a 4.26 ERA for the Ottawa Lynx in the rest of the 2006 season. He went 9-9 with a 4.82 ERA in 2007, then he announced his retirement.
