Tim Cooper played in the minor leagues and the Taiwan Major League.
Cooper was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 19th round of the 1989 Amateur Draft, and he hit .182/.287/.209 for the GCL Yankees in his first season, fielding .833 at third base (backing up Andy Fox). He improved to .268/.380/.386 and .874 there in 1990, then he had a .242/.356/.318 batting line as a utility man for the Greensboro Hornets in 1991. Cooper stayed in Greensboro in 1992, now as the starting third baseman and his batting line was .254/.354/.339 in 105 games. He fielded .899, his 29 errors at the hot corner tying for the South Atlantic League lead.
He batted .301/.401/.430 for the Prince William Cannons in 1993, and he also played 60 games .281/.397/.498 batting line with the San Bernardino Spirit. He had 14 homers and 70 walks for the season. Cooper crushed 8 homers for the Tampa Yankees with a .258/.366/.438 batting line in 1994, but he slumped to .177/.294/.259 in 1995 and he left the Yankees chain.
Hitting .331/.408/.551 with 10 triples and 12 homers for the Reno Chukars in 1996, he was among the Western Baseball League leaders in average (6th, between Rick Prieto and Bernie Nunez), OBP (6th, between Prieto and Frank Valdez), slugging (6th, between Carl Nichols and Danny Lewis), OPS (5th, between David Mowry and Nichols), runs (3rd, after Prieto and Cobi Cradle), triples (tied for 1st) and RBI (8th, between Jim Koehler and Donald Harris). Valdez beat him out for the All-Star honors at third base.
The San Francisco Giants signed him and he played 28 games with a .223/.365/.321 batting line for the 1997 Bakersfield Blaze. Cooper also hit .246/.343/.344 in 17 games for the Salinas Peppers, and he had a .294/.373/.494 batting line for the Chico Heat. He crushed 18 homers with a .314/.401/.558 batting line in Chico in 1998, and he collected 19 dingers with a .280/.395/.569 batting line in 1999. He also played 8 games for the Taichung Agan in 1999 TML, and he went 3-for-28 with them in 2000. Cooper returned to the Heat and hit .301/.440/.474, then he had a .267/.343/.440 batting line in 43 games in 2001. The 2001 season was his last season as a professional player.
