Biographical Information[edit]
Tex Jeanes, nephew of Tris Speaker, came straight out of Trinity University to the big leagues, where he played for the 1921 Indians under player-manager Speaker. He went 2-for-3, but was sent to the minors for more seasoning.
In addition to his major league games as an outfielder, he also pitched twice in the majors.
In the minors, he played in the Southern Association and the Texas League, and later managed the 1935-1936 Longview Cannibals and 1940 Longview Texans.
Tex was the first major leaguer out of Trinity, and until the 1960's, the only one.
