Biographical Information[edit]

Tetsuhiro Nonaka pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and the CPBL.

Nonaka was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the first round of the 1983 NPB draft, and he had a 4.76 ERA in 7 games in 1985 after spending a year in the NPB Farm Leagues. However, he suffered from a right shoulder injury, and he never pitched another game with the big club before he was released in 1989. After leaving baseball for three years, Nonaka went to Taiwan and signed with the Jungo Bears. He was 15-4 with a 3.16 ERA in 1993, ranking 4th in wins (between Ping-Yang Huang and Chang-Heng Hsieh) and 8th in strikeouts (between Ming-Te Chen and Chip Duncan).

Nonaka then returned to Japan, and he had a 3.16 ERA in 21 games in 1994 with the Chunichi Dragons. Nonaka's ERA rose to 5.19 in 20 games in 1995, then he was released in 1996. The Yakult Swallows picked him up, and Nonaka pitched a career-high 44 games with a solid 2.28 ERA in 1997. However, he struggled in 1998 as his ERA was 8.53 in 16 games, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Nonaka collected 4 saves with a 2-5 record, struck out 108 with a 4.15 ERA in 111 appearances in 6 seasons in the NPB.
