- 1954 - Willie Mays makes "The Catch" to rob Vic Wertz in Game 1 of the 1954 World Series.
- 1957 - The New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers both play their final games in New York. Both lose.
- 1963 - John Paciorek (pictured) goes 3 for 3 in his only major league game. He sets a major league career record for most at-bats without being retired.
- 1986 - Bert Blyleven allows three home runs and has now surrendered 49 for the season, breaking Robin Roberts' record.
