December 20: Today's featured birthday is that of Bill Laskey, who turns 67.
- 1929 - Tom Zachary wins to improve to 12-0. No one in major league history has since finished a season with as many wins without taking a loss.
- 1940 - Jimmie Foxx hits his 500th career home run, going deep against George Caster. It is one of four Red Sox homers that inning, a record.
- 1974 - Al Kaline (pictured) cracks a double off of Dave McNally for his 3,000th hit.
- 1992 - Dave Winfield drives in four runs to become the first 40-year-old player to have 100 RBI in a major league season.
- 2001 - Tuffy Rhodes hits his 55th home run of the season, tying Sadaharu Oh's NPB record. Daisuke Matsuzaka surrenders the shot. Rhodes will be pitched around when his club faces Oh's Daiei Hawks with a chance to break the record, creating controversy, and he will end the season at 55.
