- 1910 - Dick Rudolph of the Toronto Maple Leafs throws 10 hitless innings against the Montreal Royals before allowing a base hit in the 11th.
- 1932 - Joe McCarthy's Yankees clinch the 1932 AL title, making him the first manager to win pennants in both the American League and National League.
- 1954 - An all-time record 84,587 fans come out for a major league game as the Indians take a twin bill from the Yankees.
- 1962 - Tom Cheney strikes out a major league-record 21 batters in a 16-inning win.
- 1999 - Bobby Rose drives in his 135th run of the season. The Yokohama BayStars second baseman now holds the record for RBI by gaijin in Nippon Pro Baseball.
- 2000 - 68 years to the day after Johnny Frederick set the pinch-hit home run record with 6 in a year, Dave Hansen (pictured) swats his 7th of the campaign to break the mark. Just one year later, Craig Wilson will match Hansen's feat.
