- 1962 - Cubs rookie Ken Hubbs goes 8 for 8 in a doubleheader; the Cubs sweep the Phillies.
- 1983 - Steve Carlton strikes out his 3,511st batter, surpassing Walter Johnson to move into second on the all-time major league list behind Nolan Ryan.
- 2006 - Barry Bonds homers against Brad Halsey to tie Babe Ruth for second all-time at 714, trailing Hank Aaron.
