- 1892 - Benjamin Harrison becomes the first US president to see a major league game. The Reds top the Senators, 6-5.
- 1925 - Eddie Collins (pictured) doubles off Walter Johnson to become the sixth player with 3,000 hits in the majors.
- 1976 - There is a rainout in a game at a domed stadium as floods prevent people from getting to the Astrodome.
- 1983 - The Minnesota Twins take Tim Belcher with the first pick of the 1983 amateur draft but he will not sign, instead joining the USA national team.
- 1992 - Eddie Murray drives in his 1,510th run in the big leagues, breaking Mickey Mantle's record for RBIs by a switch-hitter.
