November 16: Today's featured birthday is that of Hector Fajardo, who turns 54.
- 1935 - White Sox rookie John Whitehead loses his first game after starting his career with wins in his first eight starts.
- 1949 - Happy Chandler reinstates those players banned for jumping to the Mexican League. Within 11 days, Lou Klein will be back in the major leagues. Sal Maglie will make the most notable return.
- 1963 - Mickey Mantle runs into a chain link fence in Memorial Stadium. He fractures a bone in his left foot and damages his knee. He will miss 61 games.
- 1974 - There is a major fight in the A's clubhouse between Reggie Jackson (pictured) and Billy North. Jackson injures his shoulder and Ray Fosse, who tries to break up the fight, will miss 12 weeks with a crushed disk in his neck.
- 1981 - Nolan Ryan walks two to reach 1,777 bases on balls in his career, breaking Early Wynn's all-time major league record. Amazingly, Ryan still has over a decade to go.
