November 18: Today's featured birthday is that of Dante Bichette, who turns 61.
- 1905 - With Giants leading the Superbas, 11-1, Archibald "Moonlight" Graham (pictured) plays in his only major league game as a defensive replacement in right field, never getting to bat. He will be immortalized by W.P. Kinsella's book Shoeless Joe and the movie based on the book, Field of Dreams.
- 1950 - In an effort to thwart the major leagues' signing of black players, J.B. Martin, the president of the Negro American League's Chicago American Giants, instructs manager Double Duty Radcliffe to sign white players.
- 1984 - Pete Rose, playing for the Montréal Expos, appears in his 3,309th major league game, passing Carl Yastrzemski as the all-time leader.
- 1990 - For the first time since 1917, two no-hitters are thrown on the same day as the Athletics' Dave Stewart shuts out the Blue Jays, 5-0, and the Dodgers' Fernando Valenzuela blanks the Cardinals, 6-0.
- 2004 - Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson records his 4,000 career strikeout, becoming the fourth player in major league baseball history to reach the plateau.
