- 1950 - The Indians score an American League record 14 runs in the 1st inning in a 21-2 rout.
- 1975 - Fred Lynn homers three times and adds a triple and a single as the rookie ties the American League record of 16 total bases in a game. He drives in 10.
- 1976 - Commissioner Bowie Kuhn voids the sale by Charlie Finley of Vida Blue, Rollie Fingers and Joe Rudi in a Fire Sale.
- 1986 - Don Sutton (pictured) beats the Rangers, 5-1, for his 300th win.
- 1991 - Toshikatsu Hikono hits a game-winning homer in the 10th inning but falls down as he rounds first base and is unable to rise. A pinch-runner has to finish the circuit for him.
