- 1926 - Two Hall of Fame second basemen are traded for each other, with Rogers Hornsby going to the New York Giants and Frankie Frisch (pictured) to the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis also gets Jimmy Ring in the deal.
- 1944 - The Yomiuri Giants lists all of their players as company employees to protect their rights to them as Japanese baseball is on hold until after World War II.
- 1947 - The Colombian national team wins the 1947 Amateur World Series.
- 2000 - Faustino Corrales strikes out 22 batters to set a new Cuban record for a nine-inning game
- 2008 - Aroldis Chapman sets a new Cuban record by reaching 102 mph with his fastball.
