• 1949 - The New York Giants get Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky from the Boston Braves for Willard Marshall, Sid Gordon, Buddy Kerr and Sam Webb.
• 1960 - The first expansion draft in baseball history is held to stock the Washington Senators and Los Angeles Angels. Jim Fregosi (pictured) is one of the most notable picks.
