- 1932 - The Washington Senators trade Sam West, Carl Reynolds, Lloyd Brown and $20,000 to the St. Louis Browns for Goose Goslin, Fred Schulte and Lefty Stewart.
- 1949 - The New York Giants get Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky from the Boston Braves for Willard Marshall, Sid Gordon, Buddy Kerr and Sam Webb.
- 1960 - The first expansion draft in baseball history is held to stock the Washington Senators and Los Angeles Angels. Jim Fregosi (pictured) is one of the most notable picks.
- 1977 - The Boston Red Sox trade Ferguson Jenkins to the Texas Rangers for John Poloni and cash.
