- 1906 - Jack Taylor (pictured) throws his 187th straight complete game, a major league record that will likely never be broken.
- 1921 - Joe Judge hits three triples in a 19-inning loss by the Senators.
- 1975 - Davey Lopes steals his 32nd base in as many attempts, breaking Max Carey's 53-year-old record.
- 1981 - The 1981 All-Star Game is finally held, ending the 1981 strike. Vida Blue becomes the first pitcher to win an All-Star Game for both the National League and American League.
- 1999 - A major league-record five grand slams are hit today. Contributing are Fernando Tatis, Jose Vidro, Mike Lowell, Bernie Williams and Jay Buhner.
