January 20: Today's featured birthday is that of Tim Kubinski, who turns 53.
- 1919 - Joe Wilhoit's Organized Baseball record 69-game hitting streak comes to an end. The Wichita Jobbers outfielder's record still stands to this day.
- 1931 - Tony Freitas of the Sacramento Senators is let out of jail to pitch a game. He wins, 5-3, over the San Francisco Mission Reds, before returning to complete his sentence.
- 1945 - 17-year-old Tommy Brown hits a home run, the youngest player to do so in major league history.
- 1948 - 78,382 fans show up to see the Indians, setting the all-time record for a night game. Satchel Paige throws the fourth straight shutout for the Tribe.
- 1965 - Eddie Mathews (pictured) hits a home run. That gives Mathews and Hank Aaron 773 homers as teammates, breaking the record held previously by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
