Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Wilhoit holds the record for hits in consecutive games in professional baseball. Playing in 1919 for Wichita in the Western League, Wilhoit hit in 69 consecutive games. Second on the all-time list is Joe DiMaggio: not for his 56-game streak with the New York Yankees, but for a streak of 61 games for the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League in 1933.
Joe Wilhoit was the first major leaguer from DePaul University and also the first major leaguer to die in Santa Barbara, CA.
