- 1912 - In the first game played at Fenway Park, the Boston Red Sox beat Harvard University during a snow storm.
- 1974 - San Diego Padres owner Ray Kroc gets on the public address system and tells fans "I've never seen such stupid baseball playing in my life"; the Padres lose 9-5.
- 1985 - Tom Seaver (pictured) breaks Christy Mathewson's record for Opening Day starts, getting his 15th. The White Sox beat the Brewers, 4-2, and Seaver is credited with the victory.
- 2004 - Daisuke Matsuzaka becomes the first pitcher in Nippon Pro Baseball to strike out every hitter in the opposing lineup in one game, doing so against the Kintetsu Buffaloes.
- 2006 - Tomoaki Kanemoto, 2005 Central League MVP, breaks Cal Ripken Jr.'s world record for consecutive games played without missing an inning.
