Biographical Information[edit]

Ted Springenatic played for the Canadian national team in the 1973 Amateur World Series, 1974 Amateur World Series and 1975 Pan American Games. He scored the first run of the 1975 Intercontinental Cup and later added a two-run double against South Korea in a 4-2 win. He hit .333/.393/.375 with two runs and three RBI in eight games in the 1978 Amateur World Series, leading Canada in OBP by 28 points over Dale Tilleman. He fielded .957 in 5 games as their main third baseman and was excellent defensively as the backup to Mike Teahen at catcher (14 TC, 0 E, Opp SB 0-3). His brother Dennis Springenatic later played for Team Canada as well and his father Orest Springenatic has coached youth baseball in Canada.
