Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Tanner Rainey made his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds early in the 2018 season and ended up making 8 appearances for the team, all in relief. He gave up 19 runs in just 7 innings to end up with an ungodly ERA of 24.43.
Rainey was a 2nd round pick by the Reds in the 2015 amateur draft, out of the University of West Alabama. he had a rough first couple of years as a pro, however, as he posted an ERA of 4.27 in 15 starts in the Pioneer League in 2015, then went 5-10, 5.57 for the Dayton Dragons of the Midwest League in 2016. His walk rates were high those first two years, but he still struck out around a batter per inning, showing decent stuff. In 2017, he was moved to the bullpen and had his best season so far, going 3-3, 3.19 with 13 saves in 53 games between the Daytona Tortugas and Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He did even better in AAA in 2018, when he was 7-2, 2.65 with 3 saves in 44 games.
On December 12, 2018, he was part of the first all-Tanner trade in major league history, being sent to the Washington Nationals in return for Tanner Roark.
Notable Achievements[edit]
