Talk:Washington Nationals

From BR Bullpen

Since 2009 due to an error on the team's uniforms, Michael Wilbon of PTI, as occasionally or frequently referred to the team as the Natinals. I threw in the location of the website with a picture of the error. I'm not sure if this sort of thing qualifies as an official nickname or not.- Yuriy 43

It's more a of a running joke than anything else. --Philippe (talk) 03:28, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

How is it different than calling the Dodgers, Dem Bums or the Bums? Wasn't that a running joke too?- Yuriy 43

The use of "Bums" to refer to the Dodgers became quite common, which is not the case with "Natinals". --Philippe (talk) 05:22, 28 October 2014 (EDT)

I include something on the Presidents Race. It's not great, but it's the best that I could come up with.- Yuriy 43

Good stuff. I like it. --Philippe (talk) 05:11, 25 July 2015 (EDT)

If I differentiate between all the Nationals teams (NA, NL, UA, AA, AL) etc. would it be all right to combine pages and put all Nationals history here or do we keep that separate. - Yuriy 43

This page should focus on the 21st century team. There is such a long gap with the 19th century Nationals that it makes little sense to include these except as a passing mention that the name "Nationals" was sported by other teams in the distant past. You could write a stand-alone page on the history of major league baseball in Washington that would explain the convoluted history of the different teams that have called DC home over the years. --Philippe (talk) 06:25, 3 June 2016 (EDT)

Like the one I did for Cleveland? That could work. Even throw in some Olympics and Senators history later on. Thanks- Yuriy 43.

For the "Franchise Players" section should I include Montreal Expos players? And on that note, should Nationals players be included in the Expos "Franchise Players"? -Umbreon9 (talk) 02:18, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

On the first it's up to you,, on the second definitely not. Expos history ends in 2004 (it's still a sore wound in these parts). Philippe (talk) 14:22, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

What is "winningest" manager? Wins? Winning percentage? Jeff (talk) 23:28, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

It looks like number of wins (Buck Rodgers, for one, has a winning record as a manager for the Expos), but we don't normally list that on franchise pages. Philippe (talk) 13:44, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Its being added team by team, and I don't think its real clear to visitors to the pages. Jeff (talk) 14:55, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
