Talk:John Hinton

From BR Bullpen

I can't find Woodville. There was an obituary published in Altoona that said Hinton died at his sister's home in Pittsburgh [1] Jeff (talk) 00:23, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Seems like reason enough to update it. Maybe let Bill Carle know? - Mischa (talk) 11:05, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Nice find. I'll send the link to Bill Carle. Philippe (talk) 13:52, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

And last Wednesday would be July 21st, not the 19th as we have now. Philippe (talk) 14:02, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Jeff: Bill Carle got back to me and sent me a copy of Hinton's actual death certificate. The date is July 19 and the place is the Allegheny County Hospital for the Insane, in Woodville, Collier Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Collier Township is just west of Pittsburgh (west of Carnegie to be precise). There's a wikipedia article on Woodville (Heidelberg Pennsylvania) [2], a building in the NationaL Register of Historic Places, which appears to be in the same location. The asylum itself no longer exists, and as you mention Woodville is no longer a recognized place, but some of its records are online (see here [3] for example). So Woodville was in what is now Collier Township? Should we assume that Charlie Kuhns and Alex Jones also died in that hospital? Jeff (talk) 16:49, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
Note that Woodville was already in Collins Township at the time, as the township is mentioned in the death certificate, but there may have been other institutions next to the asylum. The two other players' pages are pretty sparse, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Philippe (talk) 22:57, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
