Talk:Jim Bunning

From BR Bullpen

"Jim Bunning was the most successful pitcher since Cy Young to pitch in both the American and National leagues." What about Randy Johnson or Pedro Martinez? Sounds like added opinion - --Mischa (talk) 11:29, 14 May 2013 (EDT)

Johnson and Martinez were after Bunning. The blurb points to Bunning being the best after Young up to that point. With limited movement between the leagues, that's plausible. Whether the opinion should be in there is a different debate. --Jeff (talk) 16:48, 14 May 2013 (EDT)

I think it's justified. For example, Bunning was the first pitcher since Cy Young to record 100 victories in both leagues (Fergie Jenkins would be next, if I'm not mistaken). As noted, it was rare at the time for a pitcher to change leagues before he was considered washed up, since interleague trades only started in the early 1960s. --Philippe (talk) 04:12, 15 May 2013 (EDT)
