The March-April 2020 SABR Biographical Committee Report has him as batting left-handed, but obviously this doesn't square with our picture of him, so I'm not changing it for now and have signaled the discrepancy to Bill Carle. Philippe (talk) 15:20, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Just started a search of newspapers to see if there's any mention. Interestingly, there is zero mention of "Howie Shanks" before 1923. Exclusively "Howard Shanks" before that, and still primarily Howard after that. Jeff (talk) 16:14, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
